Thunderbirds Waive Coleman

GREENVILLE, S.C., January 11 – The Albuquerque Thunderbirds have acquired guard Tierre Brown from the NBA Development League available player pool and released forward Anthony Coleman.

Brown, 6-2, 189, has played in 134 NBA games, including 76 with the Los Angeles Lakers last season. In camp with the Toronto Raptors in 2005, Brown has also logged time with the Houston Rockets, Cleveland Cavaliers and the New Orleans Hornets. His NBA career averages are 12.3 minutes, 3.9 points, 1.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, including averaging 14.0 minutes, 4.4 points, 1.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists with the Lakers last season.

The 2004 D-League Most Valuable Player, Brown is the only player in D-League history to be named to the All-D-League First Team twice (2003-04 and 2002-03). His 1,455 career points, 536 career field goals made, 422 free throws attempted and 481 assists are all fifth all-time in D-League history. His 354 free throws made ranks sixth all-time. In 85 career D-League games, all with Charleston (now Florida), Brown averaged 30.9 minutes, 17.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 5.7 assists.

Coleman played in four games for the Thunderbirds, averaging 8.3 minutes, 1.5 points and 1.8 rebounds.

Brown is expected to be in uniform when the T-Birds (9-7) are host to Fort Worth (10-6) on Friday at Tingley Coliseum.
